Straying from her previous folky style, the Swedish born Jenny Beck has produced a simple, fun pop album. The production - courtesy of Ms Beck and Mitch Deighton - is pretty well stripped down leaving her voice to soar. The songs cover all the styles of popular music from both sides of the Atlantic in recent years.
"On the Outside" and "Everything" are irritatingly catchy pop tunes. "I'd be Damned" and "Four Senses" would not be out of place in a country music radio station playlist. "Out of Reach" is pure, bouncy Euro-pop. In one of those strange moments that you only get while listening to music in your car, BluesBunny managed to convince himself that he had heard all these songs before. Two plays of the album were all that it had taken to make these songs seem like old friends. A sign of real talent.
So there you have it. A very capable songwriter - she wrote all the songs on the album - and a fine voice. One to watch without a doubt.
