You can’t go far wrong with the blues rock especially if you play it by the rules and the Matt Coats Trio, accordingly, play it strictly by the rules throughout their EP “No One’s Home”.

That’s no bad thing, however, when you have the skill to make it work and the three songs here – “Never Met A Woman”, “No One’s Home” and “Run” – rolling forward inexorably just like their final destination was the mythical tour bus waiting to take this band on a journey around the bars and clubs of the good old US of A.

Matt Coats, for it is he, handles vocal duties in a workmanlike manner but compensates for that with some remarkably fluid guitar work that is reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughn while Keith Williams on bass and Will Clontz on drums never fail to provide solid support.

The potential is clearly there for these three good men and true yet I am led to wonder if there is anyone out there today who would actually invest in a band like this so that they may achieve the success they deserve.
