Sometimes obscurity is its own reward even if it makes the marketing of music so much more difficult. I have, for example, no idea who Diki Mobs Koden might be but this self-titled EP is available on cassette so perhaps the aforementioned obscurity is a deliberate part of some greater plan.
Without further ado or, indeed, any further opportunity for distraction, onwards to the music. On this cassette, you get four examples of rigidly regimented experiments in the coldwave genre. The sequencer is, as always, the ringmaster with the beats exported from the dancefloor providing the entertainment in this smalltown circus of synthetic sound. Variety isn’t the spice of the Diki Mobs Koden life yet there are organic elements to be found therein with melodic patterns from mostly Mediterranean parts of the world adding some evidence that man might still be the master of the machine.
You get the story by now. If you were lost in space with only a robot for company then, as the madness that comes with infinity took control of your reality, you and your only possible dance partner would undoubtedly get out the technology and make music like this. I can even imagine some low budget sci-fi movie from the VHS era having a soundtrack like this and that, on reflection, is no bad thing with the release on the cassette format therefore being rather appropriate.
Available on cassette from Its Eleven Records and from Bandcamp.
