Jack Savoretti and Dawn Kinnard live at King Tuts in Glasgow

You don't turn up late for social engagements. You don't turn up late for a wedding. You don't even turn up late for work. So why, why would anyone choose to miss the support act at a concert? Bad manners if you ask me.

Bluesbunny was pleased to note a large crowd had gathered to see Dawn Kinnard. Having seen her before we knew she was not to be missed. You could do nothing but listen as Dawn and her keyboard player wound out song after song of dark pop music and reeled you in. The music was simple but, paired with Dawn's soothing voice, the effect was immense. "You're My Kite" sounded simply marvellous in the live set, and the crowd made their appreciation known after each song. Dawn left us with "Lean to the Glass", and truly left us crying out for more.

It can't be easy being an Englishman performing on Scottish soil. All those Jocks - what the hell are they saying? Fortunately, Jack Savoretti is a thick-skinned performer. Better yet, he's actually good at what he does! Much like the lovely Dawn Kinnard before him, he is a young, London-based musician with talent to burn, and demonstrated this well with a set of tender, emotive pop songs. A duet with Dawn on "Gypsy Love" was a highlight of a glorious set that will only hasten his route to stardom.

Tonight's acts complimented each other nicely and they will no doubt meet again in bigger places. It's unlikely that either act will be playing such intimate venues for much longer. Those in attendance tonight should think themselves extremely lucky.
