Paul Tasker, Note to Self, Lindsay Sugden and The Storm, Drawler live at The Liquid Ship in Glasgow

God, where am I? And God spoke - you're in the Liquid Ship, you eejit! Free Candy Session. Paul Tasker, Note to Self, Lindsay Sugden and The Storm, and Drawler. Remember why you're here? Write some words, wrote some words.

First on was Drawler. One guy and an acoustic guitar (and depression, of course). About as downbeat as you might get without calling the Samaritans, he played a set of songs that just about started and then just stopped. It's the kind of music that might become a cult. A suicide cult at that.

Visiting us (we, the humble Glaswegians) from Edinburgh was Lindsay Sugden and the Storm. A four piece band of quite wondrous subtlety, they proved that you can distract a man from his beer. Ms Sugden's vocals washed over your soul like warm water. Soothing and harmonious, this band had a timeless quality that will ensure they gain a place in your long term affections.

Another good 'un followed. Paul Tasker (of the Doghouse Roses) took to the stage and showed the kind of deftness and delicacy of touch on the acoustic guitar that will surely rescue this instrument from the hell of tormented singer songwriters. Running through original material and a very civilised collection of covers, he proved himself to be a class act.

Last on tonight was Note to Self. Again, one man and an acoustic guitar was the order of the day. Whilst less adept on the guitar than Paul Tasker, Davey Blackie knew how to handle a song. Pity that he played to an audience that numbered less than the fingers of my hands. Without the double vision too.

The road. It calls out to me. Just like fried food does.
