So she has a name. It turns out that she is a vegetarian too. I've been there before - it didn't work out well. But she has those eyes. Those azure eyes…
Right, let's get to business. First on are a four piece band from Glasgow called the Skinny Villains. Applying post punk influences to their indie pop sound has certainly brought benefits and it shows in this band's sparky, accomplished performance. A manic pace was maintained throughout their set. It's good to see a band with sweat on their brow.
Keeping the pace up were Washington Irving. Five men good and strong, they infused folk influences into their decidedly commercial pop sound with the result that they sounded like many fine Scottish bands without actually being the same as any one of them. An enjoyable performance and one that surely brought pleasure to the many ears in the room.
Last on were the Young Aviators. Born of the Black Alley Screens, in a short set they showed themselves to be very capable of delivering a maximum power performance born of power chords, harmonies and a dash of funkiness. Quite a lot of promise was shown for what is a new band so keep an ear open for them.
Like they say at the end of the best cartoons - That's all, folks!
