The Dropkick Murphys, the Mad Caddies and The Briggs live at Barrowlands in Glasgow

Well, if you don't know this by now, Bluesbunny likes to drink. Not from plastic tumblers if at all possible, but we're a thirsty bunch. The Irish also like to drink and low and behold, the Dropkick Murphys fuckin' love to drink! So I did what was natural, sniffed out all the Guinness to be found in Glasgow's Gallowgate all the way along to that classic, dirty sweet, rock venue; The Barrowlands.

Wasn't sure who was else was joining the Dropkick Murphys on stage when I got my ticket so it was a lovely surprise when I found out that it was other Fat Wreck Chords label mates The Briggs and Mad Caddies who would be getting the job done. Great performance by both, but the brass addition of Mad Caddies definitely boosted the energy levels. By the time Dropkick Murphy's took to the stage, myself and nearly 2000 others were already well in the "kiss me I'm shitfaced" mode and the drunks and I couldn't have asked for a better set.  Almost 30 songs worth of raw Irish punk that, as most of these shows do, climaxed at the end with an encore performance of "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" bringing things to a peak, and the bouncers were busy all night long trying to keep all the punks from hovering above the palms of their peers.

By the time the night came to a close I had got beaten about in the pit, lost my notebook, broke my pen and had just about as much alcohol on me as I had in me. If you're a fan of this classic Irish punk band, just check out the epic set list below and you will spot that this was one hell of a show that hardly requires any more of an explanation. What more could you want of an evening than these three bands, beer, booze and the Barrowlands? To sum it up, this concert was so good my mate ended up in the hospital with seven stitches. My kind of show.
