Blue Rabbit - now there's a name that suggests class to us. This band hail from the San Francisco Area and this collection of eight songs is indeed classy. Featuring exquisitely elegant harmonies from Heather Anderson, Arami Reyes and Sarah Rocklin, your ears are in for a treat.

In terms of their sound, Blue Rabbit have an almost theatrical feel that would put them into the brighter end of the gothic melodrama genre occupied by the likes of Bats for Lashes and Bluesbunny favourites Birdeatsbaby. Much like the aforementioned bands, the lyrical content is distinctly modern. For example, "No Batteries Please" highlights the lack of emotional rewards when the modern miss - how I love that phrase - indulges in a bit of DIY. Power tools, it seems, are not really a solution to her needs. In "Like I'd Like You To", the confusion of one sided relationships get spray painted with melancholy and redecorated for the 21st century.

There's plenty of intelligence on show here and I have to say I'm glad not a woman if these words are based on personal experience. Life is a lot simpler when you are a beer drinking moron like me. I'm sold on this album and it had that all important sign of quality - I was left wanting more.

Available by worldwide mail order from CD Baby.
