There's a girl with a swan on the cover. That gives a hint that this is not your run of the mill album. So it turned out to be. Mind you, when you find out that Trost is Annika Line Trost- half of Cobra Killer - then you might well be prepared for what is to follow.
This album is deliberately offbeat like some art house massacre of the mainstream. There's melody and even bits that you could sing along with but it is all put together with a flagrant desire to knock you off balance. Even looped songs like "This Strange Someone" trade off their hypnotic effect for a righteous attempt to lead you into the shadows for a kicking. Likewise europop gets kidnapped and tortured in "Cowboy". Disassociation from society and is standards gets commented upon in "I was Wrong" or at least I think that was what the song was about.
I love the quirky and the oddball so I really liked this album. I doubt that I've figure out what it is all about (at least not yet). Regarding the swan, I think they're allowed to eat them in Germany.
