So a man walks in to a bar. He sees a guy playing the acoustic guitar. That guy has got a distinctively aggressive style that puts the fretboard of his guitar in mortal danger. It turns out he is Australian and he goes by the name of Krishna Jones. He's got an album for sale. Better buy one.

The songs are strong - I had figured that would be the case from the live performance - but the album is a much grander proposition than was expected. Sonically, it is rock meets seventies funk. Starting at the beginning - where else? - the sheer joyfulness of the organ driven "Not Forgetting You" would bring a smile to anyone's face. The title track sounds like it is haunted by the ghost of Sly Stone such is its strutting coolness and keeping things in a  soulful groove is the "Light at the End of The Tunnel".

Although he draws heavily from his musical influences, Krishna Jones has shown with this album that, when you have the songs and the ability, the end result will always sound fresh. "The Other Side" is an album for those who still treasure such things as true musicianship and well written songs.
