Audit Control are a 5 piece band who, judging from these four songs, are trying to escape the confines of the indie rock genre in which they would otherwise be trapped.
Taking "When We Run" as an example, I can hear that at lot more care has been taken in the songs arrangement than is customary these days. There's a vaguely retro feel to the proceedings as well and the vocals reminded me of that old geezer Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet. You know the kind of thing I mean - there's a fair bit of pomp and swagger in the performance. Indeed, that is what sells these songs. Even on the Doors like "To The Universe", you are aware of a sense of theatre overwhelming the neo psychedelic groove of that song.
A bit more variety wouldn't have gone amiss - but, then again, I've only got four songs to judge their abilities by - but this is a band that I hope to hear more from.
