Shitting Glitter is an interesting name for a band. Not a radio friendly one I would imagine but an easy one to remember. Hailing from the melting pot they call California, this band now give us an album that is itself something of a melting pot.

You can hear so many music influences here but it is to the band's credit that they have all been neatly integrated. There are echoes of Stacey Q's dance floor electro pop in "Milk Money". "19th and Lexington" turns out to be something of a hypnotic love song right enough, but more to a time and a place than to a person. Even vile Eurodisco gets a nod in "The Apple Falls". Anyone feel love?

Of course it's not all targeted at the dance floor. Hypocrisy and discrimination get a slap in the face during "Socially Activist" and the musical theatricality dial gets turned up to classic Kate Bush during  "Treasure Good Things" making it the best track on the album to my ears.

"Open For Business" turned out be a hard album to love but the more I listened, the more I liked it and I'd certainly recommend a read through the lyrics so you know where this band is coming from. They're certainly not nightclub airheads. Amy Crosby's laconically cool vocals did the business throughout.
