There's this band doing the circuit around central Scotland called Foxgang and they've crossed the path of the Bluesbunny several times this year impressing with their oddball pop sensibilities and they have released a new single called "A Lot More Goes On (In A Year)".

So were we impressed this time? Well, yes. "A Lot More Goes On (In A Year)" is an understated song that does what a song should as it builds to glory. Rhythmically, it is sort of Blur meets Talking Heads while Ryan Denton's stylised vocals treat the lyrics with deadly, almost theatrical, seriousness but what makes this song particularly interesting are the subtle things you miss on the first listen like the way the guitars dance around the melody. This is clever stuff.

Whilst the song doesn't quite get to the levels of manic madness that "Easy Jet" or "White English" reach, it is still a damn sight more interesting than anything most bands in this part of the world can come up with.

Available for download from Ten Tracks.
