I can't say that it is a common thing to have an album by a yogic monk appear for review here at Bluesbunny Towers but Dada Veda's "Love Is The Best" is just that. Given that a monk is likely to have the Big Guy on speed dial, caution was the name of the game here. One wrong word and it would be bolt of lightning time.

Actually, this album turned out to be a distinctly good natured affair. It doesn't really push any musical boundaries but neither does it preach at you like you think it would (or should). Instead, Dada Veda gives us uplifting songs like "Liberate Your Mind" and "From Zero to Hero" delivered in an unsurprisingly earnest way that seems strangely suitable. Right at the end of the album however, Dada Vega executes a successful right turn toward the dance floor with "K¨rtan Remix" that joins chanting with trance. Unexpected indeed but it does work.

So, all in all, "Love Is The Best" is a very respectable album distinguished by the warmth of the performances and, even I'm not entirely sure why, I liked it.

Profits from the sale of this album go to the Albanian Sunrise School which Dada Veda founded back in 2000.
