Turn your back for a moment and a revolution starts. This time it is apparently a new-folk revolution and it is spearheaded by Findlay Napier and his band. You've got to love press releases…

But to the song (which goes by the name of "Raise a Glass"). Regarding its subject matter, it is an interesting idea to portray, in song, life in the office as being equivalent to being trapped in a prison camp with only the thought of a sort of escape from Colditz thing to keep a man going. Everybody wants to make their escape but they never will make the break from monotony except for the protagonist of the song, of course, who will do it next year.

It's a nicely performed tune as well that, quite cleverly, sounds just like a parody of a proud, parochial folk song should. I've got to admit that I didn't get the joke the first time around and was, accordingly, somewhat confused as to what the song was all about but all became clear later. Take a listen for yourself and see if you can figure it out.
