Many bands working out of Glasgow these days have a strong element of blues and folk in their music. The Fortunate Sons represent one of the best examples of this genre.
Distinguished by the strong vocals of Sam West, the band have produced some real quality with this self released 6 track mini album. "Over Again" features some fine fiddle playing by Graham McGeoch. "Poets" is haunted by the ghost of Del Amitri and is none the worse for that. Standout tracks were "Wasted Time" that charges out of the speakers and chases you round the room and the downhome, bluesy "Slave Chain". Listening to these songs repeatedly (as is the way of the reviewer), BluesBunny was struck by how polished this band are. This is one album that you will keep close to the CD player.
The Fortunate Sons have a strong, commercial sound. BluesBunny is confident that we will hear a lot more from them.
