Four bars in and I was getting worried. That's four bars of music, by the way, as nobody gets worried about having visited only four bars. Back to the story as it were. There was a conventionality in those first four bars - perhaps even a certain lack of imagination - that made me dread having to write this review.

Then the vocals cut in and happiness returned. While Seminole don't really push the boundaries, they are more than mere facsimiles of a rock band at the heavier end of the spectrum. They know what a melody is for a start and they're not afraid of a bit of complexity (which makes for two plus points in my opinion). "Shapes" is a straightforward song but, in truth, it is the only one here as "Bipolar" introduces clever tempo shifts to make the end result vaguely disturbing and "Psycho Circus vs. AMPM" easily bears comparison to the songs of bands like Muse. However, the best vocal performance comes on the moodily aggressive "D.A.N.G.E.R" making it the standout track for me.

Never less than interesting and more usually intriguing, this EP highlights both Seminole's musical abilities and their ability to attach a melody to a depleted uranium shell. Not perfect but not far off it.

The EP is available on ITunes and, no doubt, other download sites.
