You don’t have anyone to blame but yourself when you do everything yourself. On Grady Truchelut’s new album “Subliminal Moonshine” he does most everything himself from the song writing to the performing and the production.

Fortunately, it is by no means a bad album and Mr Truchelut avoids the self indulgenced and self pity that so often results from such an approach.  “Subliminal Moonshine” is nonetheless a mellow album with a warm feel to it and easygoing songs like “Turn On Me” or “Falling Down” show that he can muster all the good natured charm of someone like Jackson Browne.  In fact, on “Record Time” he could be Jackson Browne. That kind of tells you the story of the songs too.  Sure, it is all a bit self centred but there’s a good bit of maturity on show here and that should prove endearing to the kind of people who might like this kind of music.

A likeable album all round then and, while it would perhaps of have benefitted from a bit of collaboration to add a surprise or two, Mr Truchelut has properly demonstrated his potential here.
