Ever had one of those déjà vu  moments? One of those moments when you think you know what is about to happen?  Four bars into “Then It Will Be Done” and I knew that the rest of the seven minutes plus that this song hangs about would be a homage to Twilight Sad. Come to think of it, should there ever be a demand for a Twilight Sad covers band then Campfires in Winter will be ready and waiting.  The most remarkable thing about the song was the false stop after which nothing of significance actually happened.  Further attempts at atmosphere i.e. power chords and lost in space drums drag “Cardboard Ships” out to over 5 minutes of mediocrity with only the male vocalist showing any sign of passion.  “It’s Been Months Now” is the best song here but again it is the vocals that hold your interest.

Campfires of Winter seem to have a bit of a buzz going about them but, on the evidence of this rather dull EP, it is hard to see why.

Available as a free download.
