There are albums that are planned and there are albums that claim to have just happened. “Bridge of Dreams” by The Loz Netto Band sounds like that with Loz Netto (a guitar man of some repute), Nigel Ball and Rob Kenny running through a set compromised of original tunes and well known covers.
It’s nicely done as you might expect given the pedigree of those involved but it has to be said that there is also little new here with the cover versions being respectful to the point of being pedestrian with “Get Rhythm” being especially mechanical. There’s a lack of fire too that has the unfortunate effect of making the band sound like they are playing to an inattentive Sunday afternoon pub audience. The sound quality – despite the apparent lack of overdubs – is flat and uninvolving.
I’m sure that albums like this have their fans (or at least fans of those involved will like the album) but it doesn’t really stick in the memory for long.
