This is a fine performance from an outstanding singer with real range and depth to her voice. Right from the bluesy opener "Not Alone", with its fine understated harmonica accompaniment to Renee's husky vocals, your suspicions that you're in for a treat are quickly confirmed as you move on to the more poppy sound of "When Something is Wrong" via the country inspired duet with Delbert McClinton on "Pretend We Never met".
From the rockier blues of "Bottom of My Heart" and "Bury the Hatchet", to the piano backed, bar room singer performances of "Ain't Nobody" and "Fool Moon"(which at times brings to mind Michele Pfeiffer in the Fabulous Baker Boys), Renee effortlessly displays a range of styles which would be beyond the scope of most.
This may not be a CD you'll play continuously, however with a song for almost every occasion it's a worthy addition to any music collection, and is one you'll keep coming back to again and again.
