I don’t have a short attention span but many do these days. That might explain why Chris Devotion and The Expectations trade under the abbreviation of CD/EX. Either that or they just needed a name that would fit on the front of a t-shirt.
Anyway, it’s not as if we are talking symphonic splendour here as these two songs have born (and belong) in a basement stamped all over them. All jagged post punk posturing over can’t you make them even louder drums, “I Need Your Touch” gets the primitive message across nicely. Or at least as nicely as a stabbing would. Pinhole Suit” doesn’t hang around either and abandons post punk for a straight head to head battle of power chords and passion with its progenitors. Spilling beer everywhere it goes, it is a fine choice for the raucous soundtrack to some seriously anti-social behaviour.
These songs make you thirsty. Fact!
