Just as the novelty of encountering one instrumental band wanes, another one pops right into your mailbox as Maybeshewill release their new single “Critical Distance”.

From the evidence, this Leicestershire band is a serious outfit.  “Critical Distance” takes a studied approach to melody and song development which, of course, renders it ideal for the iPod listeners imprisoned in inner city flats furthering their dreams of freedom through the timely use of a veritable crescendo of guitars. To put it another way, it’s Arcade Fire without the world perspective, it’s Glissando without the shadows and it’s arthouse indie rock without the absurd posturing. Or any words for that matter.

Like I said, this band is serious.
