These Spanish based funksters give us an album featuring a sound derived from a blend of Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang (the earlier material, when they were still cool) and the funk sound of James Brown and George Clinton. Perhaps not surprisingly then they are at the best when the tempo is up and the funk is hard and raw as typified by "Super Funky Express" and "One More Dance", two tracks that will get you shaking your booty and a few others things beside while "Sugar" is another worthy piece of soulful funk that is more than deserving of your attention.
Lead singer Stevie Zee also provides some scintillating guitar to compliment the backbone provided by percussionist Luis Garcia and Average White Band Saxophonist Malcolm 'Molly' Duncan. They are backed by a fine supporting cast of musicians, including Tolo Servera on bass on who also co-produces with Molly Duncan. Somebody call the Mothership, there must be a standing room for a few more on board.
