You’ve got have a bit of style and never more so when you are stuck in the middle of the pile of unadventurous indie rockers. Black Market Serotonin – hailing from the north of England in case you are curious – make a solid stabbing movement here towards capturing one of the few remaining style crowns.
Anthemic more in the way of an American mainstream rock band if you judge this band by their songs (and “End of History” stands out as the prime example of this”), Black Market Serotonin nevertheless never stray far from what would be expected of a mainstream indie rock band. Perhaps as a result of this, they fall into the same traps as many of their contemporaries – the need for a really talented guitarist is obvious – and not enough is made of the pumped up power that could undoubtedly be released by Andrew Pimblott’s voice.
So, Black Market Serotonin are pointing in the right direction with this EP. They have got more than a bit of class and that might just see them through.
