Stoke-on-Trent. Can't say I've ever been there but it sounds like the kind of place that would have a really nice pound shop. Worth rather more than that however are Stoke-on-Trent's latest – and probably only – export, Already Gone.
Steering a steady course on the high seas of classic rock, Already Gone demonstrate a degree of professionalism that suggests that they intend to torpedo greater things (and let us not forget that commercial ambition is a good thing no matter what the arty amongst us might think). To that end, there are no shortage of punch your fist and wave your lighter in the air moments on "One Good Reason". The title track, for a start, clearly has just that purpose in mind and likewise "Sweet Lady Jane" has more than enough rifftastic reasons to cause you to exceed the speed limit in your red Audi with Luke Mastery's confident vocals urging you on all the way.
Even in their more derivative moments ("Sweet Dreams Baby"), Already Gone show commendable poise and that very poise might prove to be their ticket out of the pubs and into the stadiums. For now, what we have here is an album that designed to take permanent residence in your car's CD player.
