There's a timeless quality to the music of Les Trois Tetons. No doubt that is due to starting out as a covers band and there is also, perhaps consequently, something almost comfortingly respectful about the original songs that they now perform on their album "Danger Eyes".

There is a practised maturity on display too. "Waiting", for example, seems almost too easy until you remember that most bands during pure rock – as opposed to alt rock, post rock or whatever sub-genre is generally used as an excuse for mediocrity – won't make anywhere near as much effort as Les Trois Tetons do. Rock music is, after all, a musical format that has its own rules and those rules have been in place for a long time now. So, whilst essentially derivative, songs like "Beaujolais and Suffering" and "The Invisible Third Man" are easy on the ear and sugar coated with familiarity.

Perhaps there are more exciting albums out there but "Danger Eyes" is a perfectly fine example of quality musicianship keeping pure rock music alive and, as such, is curiously refreshing.
