Many years ago I remember strolling along an Edgehill Avenue( in Cardiff, I believe) singing a song – "No More Heroes" by the Stranglers as I recall – and wondering if it was even possible to get old. Edgehill Avenue, the band this time, hail from Kentucky and they provide ample evidence that getting old doesn't mean being bad.
"Just Out Of Sight" is a six track mini album that celebrates the joys of what used to be called soft rock with all those influences from back in the day putting the gloss on a collection of songs that sound like they were written by real adults. Perhaps unsurprisingly, there's a bit of country and a bit of southern rock in there and that makes for the sugar that balances the spice in this matured musical cake. To pick out a couple of songs, "After All" is pure FM AOR that easily evokes white collar sunshine while the rounded off Americana of "Wishing Tree" brings Tom Petty to mind.
Quality musicianship never gets old and that's what you'll find on "Just Out Of Sight". Like I said, getting old doesn't mean being bad.
