"Ponder this", said the man with the plan "what progress can there be if you have no direction?"  It's not often that I get philosophical whilst doing a review but it does happen and it happened whilst listening to electronica conspirators Six Notes.

Based around the absurdly cool (I've seen their promo picture…) dual core processor of Baxter and Poland,  Six Notes stroll somewhat aimlessly through soundscapes that travel as far as rap ("Coathanger" has all the appeal of Vanilla Ice) and moody ballads (the female voiced "Ravens") on their musical journey. However, their comfort zone is clearly a hybrid between soft rock and ambient electronica. "Preachment", for example, sways in the breeze with the best of them and there is a welcome urban elegance to be found in "Night" that would enlighten many an after dusk drive through the big city.

All things considered though, "Part 4" would have benefited from the removal of a few songs to give it a bit of focus. Still, there's much to admire here and I wouldn't be surprised if some enterprising DJ took it upon himself to butcher (oops, I meant remix…) these songs and then did some dance floor damage with them.
