Even though I often get "good cause" and lap dance" confused, I do actually like a good cause and this album has a good cause underpinning it.  The Saturday Morning Canasta Club is a collective of assorted musical and technical folks who do their thing in musical projects throughout the world.

"King Henry's Tears" makes for their fourth album so they must be doing something right and it does actually follow neatly in the footsteps of their previous album "If I Were A Little Birdie". That easy good natured feel is still there and there is much to enjoy here with an elegant cover of "I've Just Seen A Face" inducing that nice warm feeling. Similarly sentimental if rather more poignant and topical is "A Market Town" where the one way ticket home for those who do not survive war is reflected upon.

However, the collective nature of this recording is both a strength and a weakness. The songs work out well and the musicians acquit themselves well but it is also an undeniable fact that the male vocalists are not in the same class as the female vocalists. Still, it is all in a good cause so these are things that you will no doubt be able to live with.
