IDriveHome are a young band and "Everything Will Be Alright…" would appear to be their first album. Normally, that would be more than enough to bring on that unmistakeable feeling of dread and rapidly approaching despair but this time I actually felt somewhat uplifted by this four piece Dundee band's efforts.
For one thing, despite finding themselves on the periphery of indie rock, they have discarded the usual Libertines influences for those of the rather more inventive Frightened Rabbit. Accordingly, you even get an intro to set the mood before the songs get started. Though often hampered by a lack of imagination from the two guitarists, there is otherwise a fair degree of invention on show that sits nicely with the down to earth sentiments expressed in the lyrics ("Metrics" and "You're Not Safe" stand out here).
So, "Everything Will Be Alright…" makes for a good introduction to a band with potential to develop themselves into something rather interesting.
