There are bands that seem trivial and there are bands that do not. Hungarian post rockers Marionette ID are certainly not a trivial band as "Alluvion", the follow up to their album "Emptiness Will Change You", readily demonstrates.

Almost overflowing with purpose, Marionette ID exorcise their demons in seven songs that extend way beyond the limits of the three minute pop songs and, possessed of uncommon focus, they take the raw ingredients of the rock band and turn them into the kind of torment that you would expect of a Scandinavian metal band. "Parallel Monologue" best illustrates the band's ability to balance melody with sheer power chord impact though the rest of the album does not lag far behind.

"Alluvion" is a serious album put together with studious dedication and it, perhaps unsurprisingly, requires that you give it your attention to derive the greatest benefit from it.  So, if you have outgrown indie rock (and who hasn't…), this album might just be what you are looking for.
