Chausse Trappe? Some sort of trap, my schoolboy French suggests. And French this four piece band indeed are with their songs driven by a studious post rock approach to extemporisation. It is perhaps no surprise therefore that nothing as mundane as an actual song title forms part of the Chausse Trappe plan.
With but three – admittedly extended - songs on this album the thematic has replaced the use of words for there is more here that is akin to the movements of classical music than to the radio friendly three minute segments of fluffy singalongs that so many of us have become used to.
This is not an album to dip into more one that has to be taken as a whole. In the early seventies, this would have an album to discuss. Nowadays, nobody even talks.
