Crossing the boundary between post rock and art rock with their album "Electrically Haunted" are Belgian duo Zoft with the emphasis being fairly and squarely on extended extemporisations that develop into remarkably organic soundscapes.
Being far removed from the concept of the three minute pop song can have its advantages and Zoft use strident discord to distinguish themselves from the less complicated bands that might otherwise occupy their place in the instrumental pantheon. Thematically, Zoft show consistency throughout with "L'homme Machine" sitting in perfect balance with "Hokkaido" as their musical train rumbles forever onwards on the journey towards perfection.
"Electrically Haunted" is an album that you have to work at with much of its impact only really gained when you listen to it in its entirety and seems therefore to belong to a different time an place. It is, however, a serious album and deserves to be treated as such.
Incidentally, Zoft is also the name of a "unique breast enhancement supplement" but you'll find that out for yourself when you go searching for more information on this band.
