Arguably Glasgow's best rock guitarist, Gary Johnstone has found time to release a solo album called "Lock The World Out" and, unsurprisingly, it does not disappoint. Between his duties with A Joker's Rage and Three Card Trick, it is a surprise that he found the time.

Probably more surprising though is his choice of style as "Lock The World Out" sounds remarkably American with sonic signatures that could easily have emanated from the west coast of America and words that could have come from the pen of the likes of Steven Bishop or Delaney Bramlett (it's a cross decade kind of thing…). Still, it is a sure sign of confidence for him to take a trip all the way over to that west coast sunshine with the highlights of this journey being "Safe and Sound", "Not Forgotten" and "I Don't Want To Believe".  All in all, this is the kind of album that seems designed for playing in your car and I mean a proper car at that. Something like a Cadillac Eldorado rather than a Ford Focus.

"Lock The World Out" will find many a friendly ear with those who miss melodic rock music and fans of Gary Johnstone's fleet fingered guitar style will likewise be well pleased with this one.
