You get that feeling sometimes when you hear a song. That feeling when you realise that the song goes a lot deeper than its presentation might suggest. Songs For The Sleepwalker, with their album “Our Rehearsed Spontaneous Reactions”, run deep.
Now, Songs For The Sleepwalkers is actually a pseudonym for Italian expatriate Andrea Caccese (now resident in Sweden) so what you get here is the mostly the work of one man. The result though is far from a self-indulgent ego trip for it, instead, is a moving and elegiac artistic statement. This is not dark folk nor, indeed, could Mr Caccese be classed as a sensitive indie boy upon the path to being a grown up. He is already there for a start and his songs have way too much precision and clarity to live in the shadows with a poetic splendour clearly evident in “Down The Line” and “Tell Me How” that soon takes things up to a very respectable level of emotional maturity.
This is grown up music and those blessed with taste and maturity will find much to relish here as will those who appreciate both musical and emotional complexity. The mood is duly set and you will surely like what you get.
