Now here is a strange one. It has been some time, of course, since anything has come to my ears from Charlene Ava, but, under her new performing alias of Sun For Moon, she has turned sharp left into an alleyway filled with fragments of lullabies, oddball electronica and sonic shadows.
“Insomnia” is best classed as experimental with its mix of assembled structure and sound samples suggesting a yearning for the simplicity of childhood. The next track on this three track EP is “Disappearing Hearts” which, while starting of as an elegant folk style ballad, is soon spun upwards by Ms Ava’s voice to an almost spiritual high. “Naked Legs” seems, in contrast, near obsessional whilst being simultaneously dreamlike.
“Trois” is reflective in nature with an underlying darkness yet still manages to charm. Perhaps there will be more from Sun For Moon soon?
The EP is available for download from Bandcamp.
