This is Nicola in the raw. And nowhere is this more obvious than on "One Little Girl" that closes the album. Even the digital technology can't cope with the distortion causing vortex of energy that has been captured on this live track.
The rest of the tracks are all studio cuts. "Give Me That Something" is a sultry, breathy number with a hot Latin centre and is the standout track of the album. "Leave It Alone" is more rock influenced, and with an all together more fiery vocal performance that makes it clear you trifle with her emotions at your peril. Of the others "Down" is another great rock oriented song, and "Think Twice" is a really excellent and understated mid tempo number with a deceptively catchy melody.
To be honest this may not the most polished performance you will ever hear, and at times may lack sophistication. However, as the title implies, it is very definitely real music and gratifyingly hasn't been refined and pre-packaged to the point were there is no goodness left. It is music with nothing taken out, and is delivered with a passion and intensity that leaves you wanting more.
