Now released here in the UK is Rebecca Pronsky’s album “Viewfinder” and a polished product it is indeed with Ms Pronsky showing a surefootedness of one of those mountain goats. With a laconic ease, she coasts through this album of the kind of songs that simply exude good taste.
It seems almost superfluous to criticise this album. Seasoned as it is with Americana and urban New York sentiments, Ms Pronsky has clearly aimed to please and has, in all likelihood, succeeded in terms of reaching her target market. However, much as I tried to like this album, and despite its lack of any obvious faults, it just left me cold.
