It would seem that melodic pop music still survives and, from their stronghold in Indonesia, Adios Nine prove themselves well capable of entertaining you with their charmingly mellow guitar pop. Their “Sleepers and Dreamers” EP follows on from their similarly fashioned “Pundit Bandit” EP and, if you liked that, you’ll like this too.

Curiously Adios Nine sound more like they actually hail from downtown USA or even downtown Britain. As “Anywhere With You” amiably caresses your ears, it is hard not to draw comparisons with such luminaries as Orange Juice or even, as with “We Can’t Live Forever”, an Americanised Prefab Sprout and throwing in a cultured female vocal to counterpoint Muhammad Pandu’s mellow lead further reinforces the elegant westernisation that this band projects through its music.

If I hadn’t told you, you’d probably never have guessed from this EP that Adios Nine come from Indonesia. One world, one culture, one easy to enjoy EP.
