This album is actually an endearing one. I’d even go so far as to call it cute Why? Singer songwriter Orlando EF does quirky pop songs like some latter day Donovan for a start. As Yor11 is his third album, you would expect a bit of polish and that is what you get here but the album is also imbued with the kind of warm good natured feeling that only high quality confectionery should have.
He pulls from all sorts of influences – Simon and Garfunkel would have been proud of “Beautiful Dives” for example and likewise Snow Patrol” of “Follow The Sun” – but his path is his own with “Yor11” steering a straight course towards the sherbet filled land of well structured pop songs that overflow with melodies, eloquence and thematic growth.
I have to admit to liking this album and lot (and to humming “Fede-Fede-Federica” incessantly for that matter). You would have to have a very cold heart indeed to dislike this album and that’s a fact.
