The kingdom of vinyl has many treasures and one of them is The Dad Horse Experience. An oddball treasure at that but a treasure nonetheless. He’s at odds with the kind of computer generated perfection that seems endemic of modern music being more of a pied piper of Teutonic craziness and it seems only appropriate that “Kingdom It Will Come” sounds less like a pop song and more like a dark and twisted oompah stomp heading along that road to redemption led by the dynamic duo of banjo and kazoo.
So, it’s a bit weird and a lot quirky – and the flipside, “The Party”, even creeps into psychedelic territory – and Dad Horse Otten’s voice is a unique experience but that isn’t the point. The fact remains that The Dad Horse Experience is just that - an experience and an enjoyable experience at that.
I’m smiling and I don’t know why. That’s what The Dad Horse Experience do to me.
