Then there are times when you love all things American and an album from Noam Weinstein is more than enough reason to salute the Stars and Stripes whilst drinking your double chocolate skinny non-dairy frappuccino. Noam Weinstein, however, is more than wholesome as apple pie coffee shop music and “Clocked” proves it.
Noam Weinstein is undoubtedly big city in his style and substance and you can’t help but bear witness to the fact that he can get as grumpy as Randy Newman (“Owe It All” or “Kill Me Again”) and then easily alternate with something bouncy like “Birthday” or “Robot”. That is the sign of a proper songwriter who could, one day soon, escape the politeness of the coffee shop and walk the path to the pantheon of the American Popular Song”.
Perhaps the most endearing thing about “Clocked to me is that there is long lasting value to this album and how it therefore stands as testament to the songwriter’s art. Melodies abound and aligned with a subtle yet effective production, those stories in song soon win a place in your heart. An album to enjoy again and again without a doubt.
