There are times when you wonder if there is any real need for nuclear power when there are alternative forms of energy that are both ecologically friendly and, it would seem, infinitely renewable. I speak of course of worthy singer songwriters and I would imagine that Joshua Caole would burn for quite some time if he were to be thrown on the fire.
"Moon Palace" would appear to be Mr Caole's debut album and over its twelve tracks he proves that he has mastered the ways of those who have preceded him. He has also figured that individuality and controversy are best avoided in his search for commercial success and, as he runs through song after song about as little as possible, I had to wonder what great philosophical point he might be trying to make. Perhaps something about the worshipping of the generic in today's society? Or how musicians seem to require congratulation for being the sum of their influences? However, I doubt that there was any great point to be made as the lack of memorable songs and the barely better than a demo production quickly evidence.
Rather ironically given my opening remarks, Joshua Caole proves to be so dull and damp that he would probably put the fire out.
