If you are going to go the retro revivalist route then you have to do it with some style.  Your album has to be released on vinyl – gold vinyl would be nice too – and have the kind of sleeve art that looks like it has just fallen out of a time machine. So it as that “It’s All True” by Kim Lenz and The Jaguars got retrieved from the Bluesbunny Vinyl Vault and returned to its natural place on the turntable of love,

Released in 2009, this was album number four for Kim Lenz. Red of hair and lipstick, she looks the part of a proper rock ‘n’ roll princess. No mere part time pretender either, she belts out those fifties style songs like a woman hot on Wanda Jackson’s tails. The love for that time period in music history is clearly evident but, like I said, this is no mere album of pastiches. For a start, there is humour throughout with the B movie sensibilities of “Zombie For Your Love” guaranteed to raise a smile as does the jauntily expressed desires of “Chocolate Eyes”.  There’s even a bit of old style country too and “I Break A Heart Every Night” is sure to make you rush out and buy a check shirt. “It’s All True” is a good natured album that actually lives up to its name.
Although her sassy vocals hit the mark every time, Kim Lenz nearly has the show stolen from underneath her by Nick Curran’s edgy yet fluid guitar that draws more from Mickey Baker than Scotty Moore for influence.

Mastering is credited to Airshow and nicely done it is too. A CD version of the album was included with the vinyl but I doubt that you will ever need or want to listen to that. A signed poster completed the package.
