Sonic Hearts Foundation must hail from some shadow ridden part of Glasgow for it does not sound like a lot of happy smiles went into the making of their new single “The Storm” and it is pretty clear that having the right pair of Converse is clearly not a concern to them either.

“The Storm” does, however, encourage the use of the infernal retro word whilst describing it such is the intensity with which those stabbing guitars, tormented vocals and the distant thunder of drums reverb rumbled from the end of long, long tunnel emote a lo-fi electronic emo message that, incidentally, fades out with a bleak “you are all responsible for the consequences of your actions” message. It is a dark, mean and moody song that owes more to European underground music of the eighties than it does to current plastic perfection.

“Rolling Tide” makes more use of haunting synths but follows much the same path as “The Storm” so you can either look at it as more of the same or a lesser copy.
