Second H. Sam is a solo project by one Samuele Gottardello, known also to connosieures of the Italian underground as the singer of the Hormonas and the Buzz Aldrin. These four lo-fi adventures in redefining the use of reverb comprise his debut EP.
With little ado, Both “Cheri Cheri Maria” and “Sick About You & I” telegraph the warped sensibilities of Second H. Sam with the lo-fi guitar holding centre stage and the vocals lost in the mist of distant distortion. It’s a twisted tale indeed that he tells.
Almost camp by comparison, if still left of centre, is “Mama Was Right”. There is more menace in “Prieto Spring “ but you can feel the redemption in the hypnotic groove It’s like the Dad Horse Experience on summer time drugs, that’s what it is.
The EP is also available on limited edition vinyl from Shit Music For Shit People.
