As Debbie learned her trade with 'The Master of the Stratocaster' himself, Albert Collins, we already know she is going to be good. So with guest appearances by Duke Robillard (who also produces) and Coco Montoya, as well as Jay Geils, it is safe to assume that we are in for a treat. And she doesn't disappoint - indeed this is one her finest efforts to date.
There are some cracking tracks here. In particular "Worst Kinda Man" featuring a great piano backing by Bruce Katz; the solid thudding beat of "Can't Find the Blues", and the up tempo title track "Love the Game". Although it is predominately the up beat tracks that catch the attention there is one notable exception in the slower and impassioned "Down in the Trenches", written by Debbie herself (who contributes several other tracks as well) and is arguably the track of the album. With this release Debbie maintains the consistently high standard of her earlier albums - add it to your collection today.
