Not for the faint of heart, this is one powerful album. Straying from the simplistic lyrics typical of blues artists, Cathy Jean has produced a complex album that rewards repeated plays.
The music is impeccably played r&b and Cathy Jean's voice is a pleasure. But those lyrics - they would fit neatly into the country genres of cheatin' men and lyin' women except our Cathy Jean is not the forgiving type. "How Many" and "Unfinished Business" would indicate that she is a women that is certainly not to be messed with. "Blues Singing Alcoholic" is surely one of the best drinking songs ever. "I Want Your Mother to Know/Rotten Bastard" is pure acid. This stuff would melt daytime radio.
BluesBunny wouldn't be late in handing the pay packet over to this woman. She bites! A recommended purchase.
