In the world of nothingness, Mr Kito is king. Holding out for no hero, he has transposed his bedroom electronica from la belle France to South Africa and established an island of late night laptop grooviness driven solely by his worship of the monotone.
It’s a clever way of doing things that perhaps approaches musical satire with not one but all of these six songs evoking a sense of the dislocated urban existence. Excitement and inspiration is accordingly portrayed as nothing more than an inconvenience in that existential supermarket of ultimate conformity. It seems therefore almost churlish to churn out words on the fragile underachievement of “Awaiting” or “All Is Near”.
Depending on your taste in iPads you may well hail this mini album as a mini masterpiece.
